Resource Revolution 2013 Sponsored by The winners 10/12 CLOSED LOOP EXEMPLAR - Marks & Spencer and Somerset Waste Partnership Investment from Marks & Spencer (M&S) in Somerset Waste Partnership's county-wide new Sort It Plus collections has seen more than an additional 12,500 tonnes of packaging being recycled every year, adding 5% to Somerset's recycling rate. The packaging materials collected in Somerset can be traced back in a closed loop through reprocessors who manufacture packaging for M&S. It also allows M&S to invest funds for meeting its producer responsibility obligations in new recycling collections. From left: Carbon Trust's Hugh Jones, M&S's Andrew What the judges said: They thought this innovative partnership not only directly promoted the circular economy, but took producer responsibility to a new level.
