Radar 6/8 Business John Lewis to boost volunteering as part of sustainability drive John Lewis has pledged to increase community volunteering at its shops by 70% as part of its sustainability strategy. The announcement that the retailer will allocate more than 33,000 working hours annually to allow John Lewis staff to invest more time volunteering, coincides with Volunteer's Week, which took place earlier this month. John Lewis says that an integral part of its sustainability strategy, Bringing Quality to Life, is a long-standing objective to engage with local communities. Each full line John Lewis shop has a dedicated community liaison coordinator whose role is to work with local community groups and charities to identify a range of ways in which the branch and its staff can support them. John Lewis brand development director Christine Kasoulis said: "We take our role as an active member of the community seriously and our community strategy is focused on enhancing skills to create lasting change. By working alongside charities and community groups we seek to understand how we can best support them."
