Britain's first commercial windfarm
celebrated its 25th anniversary on
21 December.
Located near the North Cornwall
coast, Delabole Wind Farm began
operating in 1991. Since then, it has
generated more than 340GWh of
renewable electricity – enough power
to boil 3.4 billion kettles.
It was bought by Good Energy in
2002, and in 2013 the site became the
first in the UK to offer its own local
tariff, rewarding residents with lower
electricity bills.
