34 | AUGUST 2018 | WWT | www.wwtonline.co.uk The Knowledge Supplier News A tlas Copco has unveiled a new generation of oil-free low pressure rotary screw ZS 4 VSD + blow- ers, which are equipped with integrated permanent magnet (iPM) motors that it is claimed contributes to them being the most energy-efficient blowers available in the market. The new blowers deliver 30 per cent more flow than the current ZS VSD models, while the footprint has decreased by 50 per cent. Since air demand is o‡en variable in wastewater treat- ment plant applications, a fully integrated Neos VSD inverter automatically adjusts S elwood's team of pump solution specialists are providing robust pump- ing solutions during a major project by United Utilities to build a £300 million pipeline to connect Thirlmere Reservoir to West Cumbria. The new 62-mile pipeline will safeguard drink- ing water and protect wildlife because Ennerdale – which cur- rently supplies drinking water to towns in West Cumbria – will have its abstraction licence withdrawn by the Environment Agency in 2022. The six-year project will also involve a new water treatment works at Wil- liamsgate, two underground service reservoirs and a pump- ing station. Selwood diesel "D" drainer pumps and "S" solids handling pumps, precision-engineered for the rigours of rental, have been providing multiple pump- ing solutions across large dis- tances as pipe has been laid or relined. Since the spring of 2017, 10 miles of pipe has been com- pleted and up to 14 pumps have been in operation at any time. As the pace of work steps up a gear this year, up to 20 pumps X ylem has announced a global multi-year partner- ship with Premier League Champions Manchester City to become the club's official water technology partner. The partnership was announced at an event in Singapore, attended by former City player and England interna- tional Joleon Lescott, during the Singapore International Water Week. Xylem will also partner with City's sister club New York City FC and the Manchester City women's team. Through the partnership, Xylem aims to raise awareness about pressing global water challenges and solutions. Xylem will also work with City on Xylem Watermark projects, such as building water towers in may be rented to cope with the demands of the applications. Abigail Southwell, pump rental specialist at Selwood's branch in Stanley Street, Workington, said: "As one of the leading suppliers to the civil engineering and water sectors, we are delighted to be part of this significant infrastructure scheme in the North West. This is a highly complex project involving several different contractors and we are pleased to have been able to provide each one with robust and reli- able solutions, along with our technical expertise. "The project is still in its rela- tive infancy, but we are pleased with what has been achieved in the first year and look forward to many more years of partner- ship working to tackle the chal- lenges this scheme brings." communities around the world without access to clean water. Patrick Decker, president and CEO of Xylem, said: "From our first meeting, it was clear that City's value system was aligned with Xylem's. Our purpose as a company is to create both economic and social value. We do that every day by bringing solutions to market that solve water needs and chal- lenges, and through our Xylem Watermark program. "To partner with a club that is committed to bringing about positive social change through football is a natural fit. Work- ing with Manchester City, we will extend our reach to their massive fan base and, in doing so, increase our ability to create social value." Atlas Copco launches energy-efficient blowers Selwood provides robust solutions in £300M pipeline project for UU Xylem agrees partnership with Manchester City and optimises the air flow to meet demand. In tandem with this, the iPM motor ensures the blower's performance is energy-efficient, even when it is running at partial load. "With the introduction of the new ZS, we have set a new standard, as they can be used up to a working pressure of 1.5 bar," Atlas Copco's Mark Ranger says. "In the past, only custom- designed machines could reach this level, but Atlas Copco is now offering it to customers as standard thanks to our brand new element, which is built around an efficient internal compression principle."
