Page 21 CHILE The major dynamic in Chile's water sector is the infl uence of the mining industry, which accounts for 13 per cent of gross domestic product, and is the main focus of foreign investment into the country. PERU Peru is promising a National Desalination Plan, and is welcoming private investment into the sector. Public-private partnerships have previously worked well in capital city Lima, and more are likely to follow. ARGENTINA Argentina's national government introduced a huge programme of investment in infrastructure in 2016, including a National Water Plan that spans the coming decade. In September 2017, the Interior Ministry invited proposals for building and fi nancing $9.5 billion in water infrastructure projects.
