ALLIANCES 2018 21 CiM6, the Costain Integrated and MWH alliance has successfully delivered its first AMP6 project for Severn Trent Water (STW). The CiM6 team, based at Longbridge near Warwick, has already begun commissioning the upgraded Wootton Wawen wastewater treatment works in Warwickshire. The upgrade ensures the works meet the new standards on phosphates removal required by the Water Framework Directive. The project involved the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a new ferrous chloride chemical dosing plant, along with a drainage pumping station and bunded area for tanker deliveries. The alliance is also involved with Severn Trent's £35M project to improve Finham Sewage Treatment Works, near Coventry. Planning permission for the CMDP, a joint venture between MWH and Costain, is one of three construction partners that work with Southern Water in AMP6. The alliance is providing maintenance and improvements to the water and wastewater non- infrastructure programme as part of Southern Water's £3bn business plan. CMDP works in the eastern half of Southern Water's region, first phase of the project has been granted, and planning for the second phase was expected to be sought last month. The investment at Finham includes the installation of CoMag technology that will make sure Severn Trent exceeds targets to reduce phos- phorus and in turn improve the local environment. Finham processes more comprising Kent and East Sussex. CMDP has carried out a number of projects for Southern Water and has started recently on the utility's £23M scheme to ensure the water that is supplied to the Hastings area is the best it can be. At Beauport Water Supply Works, Southern Water is spending £12M to install equipment so the water that than 1,500 litres of wastewater every second and Severn Trent is aware that, with growing populations and the possibility of increases in industrial sewage in the future, it needs to take advantage of innovative solutions to make sure the water it returns to the environment is of the highest quality. leaves the works continues to meet ever-tightening goals. At nearby Brede Supply Works, a further £11M is being invested as well. Andy Parkin, site manager at Beauport, said "Supplying top quality drinking water is at the heart of our business and we're continually investing in this area. Our tap water is among the best in Europe and this investment will make it even better." The foundations of the equipment have already been laid and work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2018. CMDP is also involved with installing new equipment at Tunbridge Wells North WwTW, again to make sure the quality of the water that leaves the site is better than ever. The £6.5M project will see the solids that are removed from the treatment process at the site go on to be used as a fuel for renewable energy.
