12 ALLIANCES 2018 Agility Alliance is the joint venture formed by J Murphy & Sons and Morrison Utility Services and supported by Mott MacDonald. The organisation is one of two consortia working on Thames Water's £1bn infrastructure alliance. The deal, worth an estimated value of £500M, runs for five years with a potential ten-year extension into the AMP7 and AMP8 regulatory periods. As part of the infrastruc- ture alliance, Agility is helping to deliver essential, planned and reactive operational water networks support such as repair, maintenance and all associated activities that will drive down leakage and The long-running AGT alliance between AECOM and Galliford Try is perhaps the oldest partnership in the water sector as its now more than halfway through its fourth successive AMP with client Yorkshire Water. For AMP6, the alliance is work on three work streams namely medium treatment works, installation projects and large schemes. Work is now gathering momentum although it has been about nine months later coming through compared to AMP5. Projects that AGT has been involved with include the reduce interruptions to supply for customers across the Thames Water region. KCD is the other infrastructure alliance partner. upgrade of Blackburn Meadows WwTW. The work has included a series of improvements to the site's storm overflow system and Don Valley pumping station. This means the site is better able to cope during heavy rainfall and that sewage- related debris is better screened out before being discharged to the river. Earlier this year, Yorkshire Water announced a new treatment process at Tankersley wastewater treatment works is being installed to improve water quality in the Birdwell Dike. Agility and KCD is working alongside Thames Water and the other partners in eight2O, to deliver the AMP6 pro- gramme and beyond. AGT has been tasked with installing new technol- ogy at the site to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the treatment process, and reduce the amount of ammonia in the treated waste water that's discharged This technology involves specially designed plastic car- riers which provide a large surface area for micro-organ- isms (good bacteria) to grow on and perform biological treatment. These carriers are kept in suspension in a tank and bacteria from the wastewater also attach themselves to them.
