20 | 6TH - 12TH OCTOBER 2017 | UTILITY WEEK Operations & Assets High viz High viz Severn Trent Water reached another milestone in its mammoth project on the Elan Valley Aqueduct last month when its second bypass tunnel broke through at Nantmel in mid-Wales. The first of three bypass tunnels, at Bleddfa, has already been dug and work on the third, at Knighton, is scheduled to start in February. The whole project should be completed in August 2019. The bypass tunnels are needed so that upgrade work can be carried out on the 100-year-old Elan Valley Aqueduct without shutting it down. The aqueduct provides a Elan Valley breakthrough
