22 | 9TH - 15TH JUNE 2017 | UTILITY WEEK Operations & Assets High viz Scottish Water has started the next key phase of a £120 million invest- ment in the drinking water network that will benefit more than 200,000 people and businesses. Work is about to be completed on the first phase, which involved the construction of a 13-mile-long strategic water main from near Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire to the Fenwick/ Waterside area in East Ayrshire, and a pumping station at Darnley. The second phase will involve the construction of another stretch of stra- tegic water main, also about 13 miles long, which will be installed from the Amlaird Water Treatment Works in the Fenwick/Waterside area to Highlees Pumping Station in South Ayrshire.
