14 Outstanding Individual Contribution Winner Bristol Water For its 'pop-up' Water Bar, which can be taken to festivals and community events. The bar not only promotes tap water, but it has put the company at the heart of the community, and helped reduce the amount of plastic litter and waste. The idea came from wanting to connect more with customers at public events and making sure that they had a positive feeling about Bristol Water. Since last year, it has reached more than 530,000 people with the 'reduce plastic waste' message. Winner Barbara Frost Her passion to transform the lives of others earned former WaterAid chief executive Barbara Frost the award for Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry. Humble, pragmatic and inspiration are just some of the words that have been used to describe Frost, and her low-key style of management has been attributed to the growing success of international charity WaterAid. Frost has been a fi gurehead not only in representing WaterAid but in championing the needs of the poorest communities worldwide to ensure they have access to clean drinking water as well as improved sanitation facilities and hygiene. She has been at its helm for the past 11 years and under her stewardship as chief executive, WaterAid has: • Seen its funding income triple to £86M • Grown its global activities to span almost 40 countries • Been voted sixth among the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For- Profi t Organisations. Having announced her decision to retire back in September, Frost signed off as chief executive in May, tweeting: "Once a WaterAider always a WaterAider. A brilliant team of staff, volunteers, partners and communities. It's been such a blast!" Outstanding Innovation 2017 What the judges said: "This was a very tough decision but Bristol Water's Pop-Up Water Bar just edged it. We really liked the company's novel and fresh approach to solving an industry-wide problem. This is an innovative way of promoting the value of water, and could be very easily replicated across the industry"
