NETWORK / 26 / MARCH 2017 D istribution network operators are under close scrutiny from Ofgem to increase the amount of renewable generation connected to their networks through new flexible connections. But the problem is not confined to distribution networks. The first new power conductor in Scotland in 30 years paves the way for transmission operators to use a more cost-effective and low-carbon solution to capacity constraints. Testing transmission Transmission Ofgem has just clawed back £31 million from National Grid that was intended for fault protection works to accommodate the connection of generators to the high-voltage grid because fewer generators are looking to connect. However, it is a different picture in Scotland.
