ALLIANCES 2017 27 MGJV is a well-established joint venture, comprising Galliford Try and Morrison Utility Services with Atkins in a support role. It started out working on Thames Water's AMP5 programme and is now working on infrastructure projects in Southern Water's west and east regions. The joint venture has received six works orders, and is considering a further 30 or so jobs which should generate £15M turnover in year two of AMP6 with considerably more to follow in the following 12 months. Southern water and its delivery partners, including Galliford Try, has agreed a revised commercial model which will foster even closer co-operation, and at an earlier stage, to ensure affordability challenges can be met. Ian Jones, managing director of Galliford Try's water business, said: "Our framework was always of a design and build type but with the emphasis on detailed design. Now we're getting involved additionally in front-end solution engineering and more optioneering to increase efficiency and ensure that schemes are affordable as they're developed and well before detailed design stage."
