ADVERTisEmEnT fEATuRE Helping Water/Waste Water infrastructure resilience through Site Solutions. I nvicta Valves Limited has deservedly established an enviable track record of successfully delivering, innovative, customer focussed, resilient and value-added Site Solutions to the UK Water Industry since its formation in 1982. Part of the globally renowned AVK Group, the company has built a reputation of 'listening to' and 'hearing' what its client's requirements are before delivering them to the highest quality of workmanship and customer service. With a vision of being, 'The preferred design, installation, and service provider in the UK Water Industry for valves, penstocks, and associated products.' - The Company provides through its Site Solutions offering a bespoke service that provides its clients with a comprehensive 'one-stop shop' approach to their projects. Invicta Valves Limited, Managing Director, Andrew Izod explains the ethos behind the Site Solutions offering, "We aim to provide an extensive and resilient solutions based package designed to combat and meet the challenges that our UK Water Industry clients face on a daily basis. So, from feasibility and lifetime maintenance and from inception to completion, we provide a service that offers, best practice, cost efficiency, and longevity." Together with the fact that we include extended warranties, give post contract training, and we cover the whole of the UK makes us, I believe, unique within the water industry." Andrew stated. The UK Water regulated utility companies are under constant pressure and challenged from OFWAT to provide resilient solutions within the sector. The Water Act 2014 adds a new duty to their primary duties: to 'further' the resilience objective (in England and Wales). It highlights the need for long- term resilience of water and wastewater systems and service provision when faced with increasing external stresses, such as environmental pressures, population growth and changes in consumer behaviour. It also highlights the need to: • Promote long-term planning and in- vestment, and the use of a range of measures to manage water resources in sustainable ways; and • Increase efficiency in water use and reduce demand for water to minimise pressure on water resources. This challenge is without doubt passed on to the water industry supply chain. Invicta Valves Limited has worked closely with the utility companies and Tier 1 contractors to ensure that solu- tions provided are resilient and sus- tainable. In 2013 the company was awarded a £1.5 million contract to supply and install nineteen Actuated Penstocks and twelve Flap Valves at Abbey Mills and Beckton Sewage Treatment Works working with the MVB Joint Venture for client Thames Water on the Lee Tunnel, part of the Thames Tideway Scheme. Works were carried out on new and existing structures over an eighteen- month period at five separate locations. Site Solutions personnel conducted CONTACT: Alex Philo National Manager – Site Solutions M: +44(0)7876 860319 E: alph@invictavalves.co.uk site surveys to establish dimensions on existing structures to compare them with original Thames Water drawings before procuring bespoke penstocks from the preferred manufacturer. In all, Invicta's Site Engineers for review with MVB JV and Thames Water prepared more than 100 drawings. "The penstocks installed were amongst the largest in the UK at up to 4.8m x 5.2m and through involving Invicta at an early stage MVB JV and Thames Water were able to find long- term and resilient solutions to these notoriously difficult applications and thus benefit from considerable cost savings, minimal plant shutdowns and Extended Warranties. The actuation for the largest penstock was re-designed by Invicta, presenting a saving of £40k on cost. We work hard to ensure that our solutions do not just meet minimum requirements but provide solutions that are fit for purpose and resilient." Concluded Andrew.
