But the sector will need to go even further in the coming decades to meet challenges, such as rising customer expectations and population growth, if customers and wider society are to have trust and confidence in the vital services they rely on every day. At Ofwat we are playing our part, by using innovative regulatory approaches and tools to: • encourage the sector to place customers at the heart of their business; • give companies greater ownership of running their business; and • align incentives so that companies that think creatively and deliver for their customers are rewarded. But we cannot deliver trust in water alone. We need the sector, the supply chain and others to step up. And that includes constantly seeking out, innovating and embracing better ways of doing things.
