ALLIANCES 2016 29 Optimise carries out capital works for Thames Water. In year five of AMP5, the joint venture delivered some £122M Value of Work Done (VOWD) for Thames Water's Capital Programme. This included completion of the £20M Maida Vale flooding scheme, which removed 184 properties from being at risk of sewer flooding. The year also saw a further 248 properties removed from being at risk of flooding in both north London and Thames Valley. Optimise has also completed many clean water works including lead pipe replacement for north London, where it has replaced services for 3,646 properties. In March 2015, it completed the AMP5 opex clean water repair and maintenance contract in Thames Valley and south London, and the developer services deal in the Thames Valley and north London SMB, the joint venture between Skanska, MWH and Balfour Beatty, has moved on from its 23-month Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) deal with Thames Water having signed a five-year, £800M contract to deliver the utility's design and build solutions for AMP6 and beyond The joint venture is part of the Thames Water alliance, eight2O (see p25), and there is an option to extend the contract for a further five years to cover AMP7. The SMB team is drawing on the sustainability experiences of each of its partners, using BIM technology to bring whole- life costing and carbon foot-printing considerations to every project and programme option.
