Viridor has announced that aer
35 years its Ardley landfill site in
Oxfordshire is no longer taking non-
hazardous waste. Such waste will
now be dealt with by the company's
adjacent 26MW energy-from-waste
facility (visible in the background),
marking the end of an era. The £205
million facility has the capacity to
treat 300,000 tonnes of waste a year,
sufficient to treat all of Oxfordshire's
residual municipal waste.
