More information: www.utilityweeklive.co.uk Reader of the week Dave Hawley, general manager motors and generators, ABB "If it's sport, I watch it. I can't remember the last film I watched where I didn't fall asleep" What was your first job? I had a Saturday job cleaning a fabrication and machining shop. The fact that it was only cleaned once a week says something about the working conditions back then! What are the best and worst parts of your job? Undoubtedly the people are the best aspect. Products and systems are class leading but ABB also has the most commit- ted, motivated and informed people I have ever worked with. The worst, as someone relatively new to the business, is learning how to navigate around a complex organisation with almost 140,000 employees. What's your dream job and why? Perhaps something creative, outdoors and hands on. Unfor- tunately, I don't have a creative bone in my body. What's your most treasured possession? Most possessions are easily replaced; people, rather than things, matter to me the most. In the Hollywood film of your life, who would play you? Hugh Grant – it was a standing joke when I worked in America. What album is currently in your car CD player? Led Zeppelin. I'm sorry to admit to being an ageing rocker. What's your favourite film and TV programme? If it's sport, I watch it. I can't remember the last film I watched where I didn't fall asleep. What quote or saying do you most overuse? Unfortunately, as a golfer, "Fore!". If you ruled the world, what would you do first? Panic. ABB is an exhibitor at Utility Week Live, 21-23 April, Birmingham NEC.
