SOURCE TESTING ASSOCIATION | Annual Guide 2015 18 A word from the Water Monitoring Association T he Water Monitoring Association (WMA) is a subsidiary of the STA and represents the interests of companies involved in all aspects of water monitoring. e association was formed in mid-2007 to influence the development of standards, equip- ment, personnel training and applications that affect qualitative and quantitative water moni- toring. e association was particularly effective in developing the MCERTS standards for con- tinuous and portable monitoring equipment, an area of interest that persists today. e objectives of the association are to: • provide an independent technical resource for members and their clients; • influence appropriate industry standards, codes, safety procedures and operating principles; • encourage the professional development and a high level of ethical conduct of industry personnel; • seek co-operative endeavours with other pro- fessional organisations, institutions and regu- latory bodies, nationally and internationally. Membership is open to any company or individual that has an interest in the monitoring of water and related fields.
