February-March 2015 | Desalination & Water Reuse | 33 | JOINT CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION l 02-06 MARCH 2015 l ORLANDO, FLORIDA, USA Going forth and going strong – the world's leading membrane conference bringing together innovation and expertise in technology AWWA and the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) are uniting again to showcase the effectiveness of membrane technologies at the Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition which will be held 2 – 6 March 2015, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida, USA. This year's conference will include: • 117 technical papers, • more than 40 poster presentations, • five pre-conference workshops, • one facility tour, • multiple networking opportunities, and • a full exhibition hall featuring innovative membrane products and services. The Exposition This year the exhibition hall will showcase the latest in membrane technology and services with more than 90 booths and dedicated exhibition hall exploration time. As an attendee, you will enjoy evening networking receptions, poster sessions, exhibitor roundtables, a luncheon, refreshment breaks, and speakers/expert roundtable sessions — all taking place inside the 2015 exhibition hall. Experts in the round – special feature On Wednesday evening, our experts will open discussions with the latest information on the top issues in the membrane industry. Topics will span plant design and experiences in troubleshooting problems in an operating plant. There will be two 15-minute rounds, with participants selecting their table and topic of choice for each round. This informal event will be held in the banquet area of the exhibition hall. Arrive early to get a seat at your top selections. WORKSHOPS, TOURS AND TECHNICAL SESSIONS Pre-Conference Workshops Conference registrants can learn from one of five pre-conference workshops available at an additional cost. l MON01 Back to Basics l MON02 SEDA Utility managers' workshop l MON03 Impact of changing water quality on reverse osmosis design and operation l MON04 FSAWWA Potable reuse: Florida's present and future l MON05 SWMOA Global desalination, using green nano-composite membranes Facility Tour A facility tour is scheduled for Friday, 6 March. The Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination plant is a 25 MGD-reverse osmosis seawater facility that treats water from Tampa Bay. The plant is co-located with a power plant and is integrated with the cooling water system. The facility has extensive pretreatment and post-treatment unit operations in addition to first and second pass membrane trains. The Highlights The opening session sets the stage for the learning and fellowship to come. We'll kick off with a high-energy performance provided by the Orlando "Blues Brothers". Get your energy flowing, sing along and enjoy the show. Next, get inspired and make new connections as you are welcomed by our opening speakers including a keynote address by Emilio "Sonny" Vergara who has been involved in Florida's water and related environmental protection issues for over forty years. New trends and innovations will be discussed in five focused conference tracks l Track A - Membrane filtration applications l Track B - Brackish water and seawater Details of suppliers can be found on www.desalination.biz/marketplace l Track C - Wastewater and Industrial l Track D - Regional issues, research, and other applications l Track E - New innovations and miscellaneous Conference Topics l Membrane facility planning, management and regulations l Membrane filtration applications l Brackish water applications l Seawater desalination l Specific and multi-contaminant removal l Wastewater treatment and reuse l Pretreatment, post-treatment, and blending l Residuals management, recovery, and disposal l Water supply, intakes, and outfalls l Regional issues and applications of membrane technologies l Developing membrane technologies l Student and research forums l Industrial applications Highlighted technical sessions l Desalination projects l Oil and gas l Biofouling and biofilm l Industrial challenges l Emerging technologies l Expansions and retrofits l Surface water treatment operations l Forward osmosis and pressure-retarded osmosis l Reverse osmosis energy use l Operations and experience l Controlling fouling with pretreatment l Inorganic issues View the full schedule of technical sessions and posters online at www.awwa.org/amta/membrane15 The link to the conference home page is http://www.awwa.org/ conferences-education/conferences/membrane-technology- awwa-amta/membrane14.aspx Registration The conference's workshops and technical tours are not included in this registration fee.
