UTILITY WeeK | 7Th - 13Th November 2014 | 5 Ian Peters has been named interim managing director of British Gas. Peters is currently managing director of British Gas Residential Energy and will assume the role of managing director of British Gas on 1 December. Current British Gas managing director Chris Weston leaves the company in December, having tendered his resignation in May. Peters will hold the post on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is sought under the leadership of incoming Centrica chief executive Iain Conn, who will join the company on 1 January 2015. On Peters' appointment, Centrica chairman Rick Haythorn- thwaite said: "Ian has deep industry knowledge and experience, and is well placed to assume this role on a transitional basis, as we seek a permanent replacement under Iain Conn's new leadership." Peters said: "It will be a privi- lege to lead the company through this transitional period. "Customers are at the heart of our business, and we will continue to invest in service and innovation to help our customers understand and control their energy use, and keep their bills down. "I look forward to working with the leadership team over the com- ing months." A number of other man- agement changes have been announced: Stephen Beynon, cur- rently managing director of British Gas Business, has been appointed managing director of British Gas Residential Energy. Stuart Rolland, currently chief operations officer, steps into the role of managing director of British Gas Business. Matthew Bateman, currently managing director of British Gas Service and Repair, will lead British Gas Residential Services. eNerGY British Gas names Ian Peters interim managing director The National Trust has switched on a 100kW hydro turbine at Hafod y Porth in Snowdonia, which will sell electricity to National Grid via the National Trust's energy partner, Good Energy. This is the third project completed in the pilot phase of the charity's renewable energy investment programme. Previous projects include a 300kW marine source heat pump in Anglesey and a 199kW biomass boiler in Herefordshire. Good Energy founder and chief executive Juliet Davenport said: "Good Energy is proud to be buying electricity generated at National Trust sites.
