Construction is continuing on Carrington Power's new gas-fired power
plant being built on the site of the old
coal plant near Manchester.
Contractor Alstom used the Manchester Ship Canal to ship the huge
boiler components to site in order to
keep road disruption to a minimum,
and plans to deliver the gas turbines
by the same route soon to meet the
2016 commissioning date.
