I'll be taking over the reigns heading into •••• and I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into discovering what makes the UK's energy networks, including gas, power and heat, tick. For now, and looking forward to my rst Network Awards in March - I'm excited to be seeing the results of the Awards judging day. Having been a part of it this January it was great to see all the category nalists being hotly debated. Individual project merits were assessed in detail for their performance against the strict judging criteria, and there was some really enlightening discussion about how entries t into the wider industry picture of regulation, consumer expectation and transformation. Our expert judges were keen to recognise companies taking bold strides to become networks of the future while maintaining outstanding core performance levels in the now. There were some truly innovative and exciting projects on display and never before had I heard of electricity networks being described as "the sexy ones". Poor old gas. However, such revelations aside, if the nalists' projects we pored over on the judging day are anything to go by, the country is in good hands. Now in its second year, the Awards recognise network operators, the supply chain, contractors and local authorities who are involved in maintaining and developing our essential energy system. With the shadow of government's ••‹• net zero commitment looming large, the role that all these players have in achieving decarbonisation will form a major focus of our industry celebration on ŒŽ March. Looking ahead, I'm keen to get to know more of Network's audience and learn about the most important industry developments.
