CONTRACT WINS Galliford Try has been appointed to two AMP7 frameworks worth approximately £340 million. The company has been appointed by Southern Water as Delivery Partner for two of its design and build frameworks. Starting in 2020 and running for five years, they have a total value of £425m and Galliford Try's share of the business is anticipated to be worth approximately £240m. Galliford Try has also been appointed to Yorkshire Water's AMP7 frameworks. The total value of the frameworks is £1bn and Galliford Try expects to secure about £100m of work over the five-year term. Portsmouth Water and Cappagh have signed an agreement to extend their collaborative infrastructure contract for a further five years which will help deliver the requirements of AMP7 for the period 2020 to 2025. The contract was initially set up to help deliver Portsmouth Water's AMP6 (Asset Management Plan 6) from 2015 to 2020 and was part of a collaborative arrangement, which included co- location of staff at Portsmouth Water's head office in Havant. The contract extension will see Cappagh renew around 18km/year of water mains and associated service pipes. Bristol Water has awarded new Network Maintenance Partnership Contracts worth £75 million to Lewis Civil Engineering and TK Gallagher. The water company is implementing a new delivery model which will see all planning, scheduling and prioritisation work done by its in-house team with the new contractors. COMING SOON COMMENT My name is Alec Peachey and I am the new content director of WWT. It's an exciting time to be joining the industry as UK water companies prepare to embark on ambitious five-year plans to deliver cost-effective, resilient and innovative water and wastewater services. With so much going on in the sector WWT is well placed to reflect the technical and competitive game changing technologies and services that will move the industry forward. I want the magazine, website, newsletter and our events to reflect the good work that is taking place across the sector. For the last two years I have edited another title in the Faversham House portfolio – Network – a media platform which provides a resource for engineers in the UK's gas, power and heat networks. It's already become clear to me that innovation is going to be key in helping to drive the industry forward and ensure that water companies are prepared to meet the changing demands put on the sector. Going forward we'll be working on some things to ensure that as the market changes we're in pole position to reflect what's happening. As I said earlier, it is our job to ensure that we highlight the good work taking place across the sector. We can do this through the pages of the magazine and on our website, but ultimately we need you to let us know what's happening. We'll be guided by you, the experts, as you're the ones who are at the coalface. I'm open to suggestions about the areas we should be covering so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
