South West Water announced in 2018 that its H5O was evolving for the 2020-25 K7 period. The engineering delivery alliance was formed in 2009 and, as part of a collaborative working arrangement with the water company, had seen Balfour Beatty and Interserve working as contractors while Arcadis and Pell Frischmann served as consultants. The water company has decided to move to a design-and-build arrange- ment for all major capital schemes in K7, with nmcn initially working alongside Balfour Beatty and Interserve as they complete a small number of legacy projects by March 2020. The scope includes the provision of civil engineering works, building works and incidental mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation works in connection with the construction, extension, refurbishment, alteration and/or demolition of the low groundwater and sewerage infrastructure within the South West Water catchment area. For the 2020-25 period and beyond, South West Water has handed Stantec UK the contract for a new strategic consultant role. Stantec UK will work closely with South West Water's engineering, asset planning and opera- tions teams while assisting the delivery partners as appropriate. Construction Enquirer has reported that the H5O contract is expected to be worth up to £225 million to nmcn over the coming five-year period, while Stantec UK could receive up to £50 million. ChandlerKBS has also been appointed as cost manager, supporting these arrangements and maintain- ing and updating South West Water cost models. The alliance is joined by Kier, Northavon and Tecker, which – along with nmcn – are responsible for the design and construction of all MEICA aspects of the company's capital programme and support operations on a reactive basis. Nmcn said the scope of upcoming contracts is likely to require strategic advice for the MEICA programme, concept and feasibility studies, through to design, procurement, enabling works and specialist construction.
