NETWORK / 12 / OCTOBER 2019 Apprentice of the Year With the energy and engineering industry facing a major and growing shortage of skills, apprenticeship schemes have never been more important. Networks and their partners are leading the way in bringing new talent into the industry, and this award will recognise the industry's stars of the future. The judges will be looking for: l Apprentices that are in the process of or have recently completed accredited apprentice- ships with a network or one of their partners l Apprentices that have already made a quanti- fiable contribution to the business and/or its customers and other stakeholders, that goes beyond the requirements of their course l Evidence of passion for and commitment to a career in energy networks. record in health and safety l A business that genuinely engages with cus- tomers and other stakeholders, and is able to demonstrate how this engagement has shaped its strategy. Cross Vector Project of the Year - NEW FOR 2020 This award will recognise a project that takes a "whole system" approach, with consideration of electricity, gas, heat and other cross-vector industries, as well as taking into account other network-led and wider industry work. Entrants should demonstrate how their project has led to the facilitation of whole system out- comes, proven collaboration across industries and is helping to meet decarbonisation targets. The judges will be looking for: l An outstanding record of collaboration, Contractor of the Year The network industry relies on its contractors and supply chain partners to drive forward best practice in construction, innovative techniques and sustainability, while maintaining high health and safety and employment standards. This award will recognise the contractor which can best demonstrate a combination of com- mercial success, agenda-setting innovation, environmental stewardship and workforce best practice through its work in 2019. The judges will be looking for: l Quantifiable evidence of innovation, and of the benefits this has created for businesses, customers and other stakeholders l A commitment to sustainability l A robust and profitable business model l A business that develops its staff and looks after both staff and the public, with a strong NET WORK AWARDS Setting the standard for excellence and innovation Following a successful inaugural year in 2019, the Network Awards will return on 17th March 2020, shining a light once more on the good work taking place across the UK's energy networks, their supply chains and stakeholders.
