The works include new raw water abstraction and distribution from Loch Fada and the provision of a cutting-edge nanofi ltration Water Treatment Works at Lochmaddy. The plant was designed and built offsite in preference to the original plan for a DAF works, which would have required extensive construction work on the island. Despite being the largest plant of its type to be commissioned in the UK, its modular nature meant the entire plant could be transported by road and ferry. Winner: NORTHUMBRIAN WATER GROUP – WATER POVERTY ERADICATION MODELLING To achieve its aim to eradicate water poverty across is supply areas by 2030, Northumbrian Water Group established its Water Poverty Eradication Modelling (WPEM) in 2018 to provide intelligence via innovative use of cutting-edge machine learning techniques and toolsets to channel the company's ocean of big data. WPEM has been used to determine NWG's current water poverty landscape; identify patterns and trends; provide sustainable analytical models; and deliver predictive analytics to drive business decisions and increase customer engagement.
