www.wwtonline.co.uk | FEBRUARY 2019 | 31 Sulzer HSR turbo- compressors The new HSR line of high- speed turbocompressors is designed for the produc- tion of oil-free pressuris ed air in applications where contamination of the air must be avoided. The HSR utilises high-performance turbo and magnetic bearing technology that maximises the effi ciency and minimises the need for maintenance. The key benefi t of the HSR is the fact that it contains no oil at all, which means 100 per cent safe compressed air for processes where no con- tamination is allowed. Such applications are included for example in the production of fi brous materials, manufac- turing of pharmaceutical products, and in the food and beverage industries. OTHER TOP PICKS FOR PUMPS AND BLOWERS Next month: Valves and penstocks THE DETAILS Xylem Sanitaire TurboLIGHT ● direct-drive turbo blower ● suitable for use in smaller municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants ● Power range 7.5kW-37kW, ● fl ow rates of 300-2,700m per hour ● Ideal for plants of 2,000-70,000 PE What is it? A compact, high- effi ciency adaptation of Xylem's TurboMAX blower, suitable for lower airfl ow requirements in wastewater treatment. What's good about it? The TurboLIGHT can deliver energy reductions of up to 40 per cent when compared to traditional Positive Displacement (PD) blowers. The blower's high-speed motor comes equipped with enhanced airfoil bearings to eliminate vibration, providing up to 15 years of normal operating conditions before a bearing overhaul may be required. Its permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is capable of achieving high rotational speeds with no slip or mechanical losses during operation. The fi ve-axis impeller is also directly connected to the blower's motor sha , resulting in zero transmission losses. What do they say? Xylem's Magnus Spens: "Suitable for lower airfl ow requirements, the compact Sanitaire TurboLIGHT comes equipped with advanced centrifugal technology to off er unparalleled effi ciency at a cost- eff ective price point – providing faster payback on investment." The Knowledge Pumps and blowers Hydra-Cell Intelligent Pump Wanner International's Hydra-Cell Intelligent Pump is designed for lower total cost of ownership by reduc- ing maintenance and service costs by up to 80 per cent over its lifespan. It could also save up to 13,500KWH in energy per year. One of the principle applications will be in truck cleaning in the construction industry. With its seal-less design, the Intel- ligent Pump reliably handles recycled/grey water, high liquid temperatures of up to 120°C and works without forced lubrication. The pump can handle corrosive liquids and also works without the wear and maintenance a plunger pump would suff er under the same conditions. Allweiler GmbH OptiFix pump The OptiFix pump provides a new choice of progress- ing cavity pumps for OEMs and specifi ers of industrial wastewater treatment ap- plications. The pump can be disassembled in fi ve steps, and eliminates the need to dismantle it from piping to change the rotor, stator, joints or sha seal. Designed to deliver superior speed and effi ciency, OptiFix's easy ex- change design is optimised for safe and streamlined inspections, parts removal and service operations. In wastewater treatment service, OptiFix can reduce mean time to repair intervals by as much as 85 per cent and boost pump life by up to 500 per cent. PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
