S ystems integration spe- cialist Servelec Controls has confirmed a success- ful management buy-out, led by managing director Andrew Mills and backed by private equity firm Alcuin Capital Partners. Mills and the management team will now lead the busi- ness in its future strategy, with the goal of transforming the company into a robust, stand- alone entity and a market leader in Systems Integration. The development means that Servelec Controls will no longer be part of the Servelec Group, which was recently taken private from its previous Stock Exchange listing on the LSE main market. Mills said: "We are in a fairly unique position, active in growing niche markets where operational excel- lence and enhanced safety is imperative. We are excited to be in control of delivering exactly what our business and customers need. With its "You take care of the beer, we take care of the water" campaign, Xylem is keen to support brewers across the UK and Ireland. Xylem Water Solutions offers a range of technolo- gies relevant to the brewery market from water supply to wastewater treatment. Products for pre-treatment include the Lowara Series Z multistage pumps for breweries that have their own reserve of drinking water and are connected to springs or deep wells, extracting from depths as low as 700 metres. The Wedeco certified UV wa- ter purification systems treat water efficiently and effec- tively, and Lowara centrifu- gal pumps circulate water through to the brew house in the hot area of the brewery. Founded in 2003, the WITS group aims to help utility companies become more efficient by encouraging co-operation between utilities and engineers in external sup- plier organisations. It continues to combine the strength, knowl- edge, skills and influence of the water industry to continually improve telemetry technology and service. "The WITS-DNP3 protocol defines a standard method to achieve the utility industry telemetry control and monitor- ing requirements, in particu- lar interoperability between equipment from different manufacturers. The standard defines how to satisfy utility industry specific functional requirements using features of the DNP3 protocol.
