4 Water Industry Awards Celebrate Brightest and Best More than 550 professionals from water companies, regulators, contractors and suppliers attended the celebratory evening at The Vox, Birmingham, to applaud the achievements of the award winners and finalists at the Water Industry Awards, organised by WET News and Water & Wastewater Treatment. Held on the evening of May 21st, the black-tie dinner and awards ceremony was hosted by comedian and actress Helen Lederer, who appeared in her role as ambassador for the event's charity partner WaterAid. There was pre-dinner entertainment from a pair of hula hoop acrobats while after dinner there was the return of the WaterAid fun casino raising money for WaterAid's work to secure safe water supplies and sanitation for the developing world. Northumbrian Water took home the prestigious Water Company of the Year award, while NM Group was named Water Industry Contractor of the Year. Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's sustainable drainage initiatives earned a double win, with its RainScape project in Llanelli and its Greener Grangetown work in Cardiff winning the Drainage & Flood Management and Engineering Project awards respectively. Severn Trent was another water company with reason to celebrate, taking both the Energy & Carbon Initiative of the Year and the Most Innovative Use of an Existing Technology Awards.
