NETWORK / 8 / MARCH 2018 Jonathan Brearley, senior partner, networks, Ofgem Jonathan took up the role of the senior partner at Ofgem in May 2016. He leads Ofgem's important work regulating the monopoly energy networks. As well as regulation of price controls for the distribu - tion and transmission networks for gas and electricity (RIIO), his division is responsible for Ofgem's interconnector and offshore transmission regimes. He has a wealth of energy sector experience, having led the De - partment of Energy and Climate's electricity market reforms as the director for energy markets and networks. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathe - matics and Physics from Glasgow University and a Master's degree in Economics from University of Cambridge. Louise Kingham OBE, chief executive, Energy Institute (EI) The Energy Institute (EI) is the leading professional body for energy and promotes excellence by developing knowledge, skills and good practice in the global energy sec - tor. Louise has spent the past 24 years work- ing with energy professionals around the world. Prior to her appointment at the head of the EI in 2003, she was director general of the Institute of Petroleum and chief execu- tive of The Institute of Energy. Louise is currently a Council member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Energy Studies and EDITORIAL BOARD a board member of the Powerful Women initiative. In 2006, she received a Global Leader- ship in Energy Award and in 2011, the OBE from HM Queen for services to the energy industry. In 2017 she was awarded an Hon- orary Science Doctorate from the University of Bath. John Parsons, networks portfolio manager, BEAMA John Parsons has a long and varied career in the energy industry. Since 2013 he has been BEAMA's networks portfolio manager, representing members in the transmission and distribution sector. Prior to joining BEAMA, he began his career in the merchant navy, serving as an engineer officer, then completed an MSc in gas turbine technology at Cranfield Univer - sity and worked for GEC Energy Research and British Gas Research and Technology (ultimately Advantica). During this time, he has gained experience of offshore and marine working, micro, small, medium and large scale CHP, fuel cells, heat pumps, solar voltaic and wind generators, power networks, smart meters, smart homes and smart grids. John is a past member of the Council of the Energy Institute. He has been project coordinator of European projects on fuel cells and smart metering as well as coordinator of several UK projects on smart metering and embedded genera- tion. John Scott, independent consultant John Scott is currently an independent con- sultant with 45 years experience of electricity distribution, transmission and regulation. His previous roles include director of engineer- ing for National Grid, technical director for Ofgem, and director network innovation for KEMA Consulting. He takes a particular interest in innovation and sustainable energy systems, and factors critical to successful deployment of innovation on power systems. He was a founder member of the govern - ment's Smart Grid Forum and has recently been a non-executive director at Smarter Grid Solutions Ltd. He is currently an advisor to the aggregator Pearlstone Energy. He also chairs the industrial advisory board of the FLEXIS project. He is currently on the steering group for the Future Power System Architecture project (FPSA), which is being led by The IET jointly with the Energy Systems Catapult. Richard Court, head of regulation and external affairs, Cadent As head of regulation and external affairs on the Cadent executive team, Richard's responsibilities bring together a number of external facing activities such as the regula- tory strategy, framework development and reporting, industry development, internal and external communications, stakeholder and customer strategy, public affairs, trans - Sharing industry knowledge Network has assembled a group of highly experienced experts from the gas, power and heat networks to make up its editorial advisory board. Members will offer insight about marketplace happenings; give thoughts and opinions on topical issues, provide ideas for features and news contributions and help to steer the editorial direction of the magazine. Board members will meet in person and lend their knowledge and experience to help ensure Network's content meets the needs of the sector. We are pleased to share with readers their background and experience.
