Offsite construction is a key
requirement in many current
projects and is now backed
by government as they
recognise the benefits and
certainties in terms of money,
safety and time. This
together with onsite skills
shortages has highlighted
that manufacturers need to
work closer with engineers
and contractors to create
offsite products to achieve
onsite benefits.
Stanton Bonna embraces
offsite construction. The UK
company of Consolis - Eu-
rope's largest precast
concrete producer, it's widely
recognised for innovative
offsite solutions working with
water, highway, rail, housing,
telecom and power sectors of
the construction industry.
The Watertight Manhole
System which includes a
pre-benched, precast
manhole base is an example
of offsite construction that
continues to be improved.
As part of this develop-
ment, a new state-of-the-art
robot recently arrived at
Stanton Bonna to shape the
poly formers for precast
manhole bases.
This exceptional piece of
equipment will improve
design capabilities whilst sig-
nificantly reducing the time it
takes to manufacture Stanton
Bonna Watertight Manhole
Bases.
The unique design elimi-
nates any cascading between
main inlet and outlet pipe.
Where the main inlet pipe is
a smaller diameter to the
main outlet pipe the base
design includes a tapered
floor from one to the other
which also results in
improved flow.
The accurately profiled
formers are ready in around
45 minutes with bespoke
specified channels for each
watertight base. This used to
take between 5 to 7 days from
external suppliers.
Following the recent £3M+
investment in the 'Magic
Plant' specifically built for
production of the Stanton
Bonna Watertight Manhole
System, this further invest-
ment in innovation will help
improve efficiency as well as
significantly improve service
to customers.
