www.wwtonline.co.uk | MARCH 2018 | 39 ORAKEL System Flood and pollution preven- tion specialist Detectronic has launched a modular fl ow and quality monitoring system that utilises multiple measurement technolo- gies. ORAKEL incorporates a versatile control and display unit, which can accom- modate up to 16 sensors to measure diff erent fl ow and quality characteristics and create a bespoke solution for wastewater and industrial water monitoring environ- ments. Water quality sensors can also be incorporated to measure pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen levels and many more indicators that companies must evidence to address disposal charges and meet obligations. OTHER TOP PICKS FOR SENSORS Next month: Tanks THE DETAILS Kobold MIM fl ow meter ● Compact fl ow meter for measuring and monitoring smaller- and medium-sized fl ow of conductive liquids in pipes ● Device operates according to electromagnetic measurement principle ● Designed for ease of use What is it? Kobold's MIM fl ow meter is an electromagnetic, compact meter for measuring and monitoring the fl ow of liquid in pipes. There are no moving parts in the measuring device and this can be a key advantage in many industrial applications. The induced voltage is picked up by two sensing electrodes, which are in contact with the measuring agent and sent to the measuring amplifi er. How does it work? The fl ow rate is calculated based on the cross-sectional area of the pipe. A key benefi t is that the measurement is not dependent on the process liquid and its material properties such as density, viscosity and temperature, although the fl owing media must have a minimum conductivity value. What's good about it? The instrument is designed for ease of use, and its 90° step indexable TFT display screen can be used by operators wearing gloves. The MIM incorporates practical control and display features including bidirectional measuring, combined fl ow, temperature and volume measurement, and transmitting. The Knowledge Sensors and instrumentation i2O Logger 17 Smart water network solutions company i2O has begun production of Log- ger 17, its next-generation smart data logger, which is designed to provide water utilities with greater insight from their distribution networks and improve how they access it. The loggers gather detailed data relating to water pressure, fl ow, asset condition and transients from points of interest on their networks. Logger 17 allows up to three pressure readings to be recorded at a time, measures both single and bi-directional fl ow and provides 3G con- nectivity. Smart Electric Valve Actuator (SEVA) Badger Meter has launched its next-generation Smart Electric Valve Actuator. Available through Pump Engineering, the actuator is built with military-grade components to withstand extreme conditions while the microprocessor-controlled linear stepper motor pro- vides exceptional posi- tional accuracy to provide reliability and repeatability. Two models are available, with 100 -lb (135Nm) and 200 -lb (270Nm) thrust options suitable for 1/4" to 2" valves. The actuators utilise the Industrial Ethernet Protocol and are certifi ed by the Open DeviceNet Vendors Association. PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
