Eggborough Power has confirmed it
will close its coal plant, following its
failure to secure an agreement in the
latest capacity market auction.
Eggborough power station, the first
unit at Fiddler's Ferry and the fourth
unit at Drax were all casualties in the
year-ahead (T-1) auction for delivery in
2018/19. West Burton A was the only
coal-fired unit to win a contract in the
auction, which cleared at a record low
price of £6/kW.
