Water. desalination + reuse December 2017 Advertisement 27 This October marked not only the occa- sion of IDA's successful World Congress in São Paulo, Brazil, but also the installation of IDA's leadership for the 2017-2019 term. I am honored to have been elected IDA's Presi- dent for the next two years, and am grateful for the confi dence and trust that have been placed in me, IDA's 1st Vice President Rachid Ghamraoui, 2nd Vice President Li Youqing, Secretary General Shannon McCarthy and our roster of offi cers that includes highly respected members of the world's desalination and water reuse community. This is a time of change for IDA, not only in its leadership, but more importantly in its evolution as an association deeply commit- ted to serving its members and the global desalination and reuse industry. This commit- ment starts with providing our members with relevant, business-building and career-building programs. It includes developing closer ties with our valued affi liates, operating with greater transparency, and forging new con- nections with organizations and institutions that are involved in vital aspects of our industry including fi nance, advocacy and policy. We began this process in São Paulo and see it as vital to growing IDA's reach, reputation and prominence around the world. In short, it is a time to expand what we do while building on the successes and lessons learned in the past. To this end, I believe that three words will guide the future of IDA: engagement, rele- vance and community. IDA is your association, and we will work diligently to engage with each of you. We welcome your input on what we can do to make IDA more meaningful to your business, your interests and your professional growth. We are focused on expanding the IDA community not only in numbers but also in the breadth and scope of our membership. This is the start of a new IDA, a reinvigor- ated, forward-looking association that takes pride in serving global stakeholders who play a vital role in securing the world's water future. I invite you to learn more about our mission, share your suggestions and feedback, become involved in our programs, and take advantage of the unparalleled connections that IDA off ers. I hope you will join us in charting the course to a bright future. Sincerely, Miguel Angel Sanz President International Desalination Association Connecting People and Ideas to Water Solutions Email: info@idadesal.org Web: idadesal.org IDA is the point of connection for the global desalination and water reuse industries, bringing together people, ideas and knowledge to advance water solutions.
