CDEnviro S:MAX G CDEnviro has incorporated high frequency vibrating technology in its S:MAX G, which helps wastewater treatment operators deal with problems associ- ated with rag and grit. The S:MAX G is a wet screening system applied wherever there is a requirement for effi cient grit and rag removal. High frequency screening overcomes issues such as surface tension, blinding and rag retention. CDEnviro's bolt-on component means that grit can be recovered in a simultaneous process with the rag, down to 50-70 microns in size. OTHER TOP PICKS FOR PUMPS Next month: Trenchless technology THE DETAILS Hydro Microscreen ● Low energy, small footprint rotating belt screen ● Energy use of between 2.5-7 hp ● Maximum hydraulic capacity of 1,750gpm ● Removes up to 70% of TSS, up to 40% of BOD, 40% of FOG and up to 10% of phosphorus, at the earliest possible stage What it is: The recently-launched Hydro Microscreen, made by Hydro International, is a low-energy, small footprint rotating belt screen, which promises to save operators up to 50% in power use, while only taking up 10% of the footprint of conventional primary clarifi ers. What it does: With a range of screen mesh sizes, the MicroScreen removes many contaminants from wastewater at the earliest possible stage, reducing loading on downstream processes and improving overall treatment eff ectiveness. It can capture TSS, BOD, COD, FOG and even particulate phosphorus, and is ideal for fi ne screening, primary clarifi cation and dewatering primary- secondary sludge blends. For smaller plants it can provide combined fi ne screening and grit removal in one process. What's so good about it: The Microscreen reduces downstream energy demand of up to 50% on aeration, sludge wasting, processing and hauling. It is also a small, accessible unit that can be maintained quickly and easily – minimising maintenance costs and reducing system downtime in the treatment process. The unit features automatic fl ow control, and internal feeding of the septic sludge into the drum with variable diameter perfora- tions assuring the best mechanical separation. The result is excellent separa- tion of unwanted fi brous materials. Due to the high fl ow capacity, it is possible to quickly empty external septic sludge from tanker trucks. Dimminutor Channel Disintegrator The Dimminutor, made by US company Franklin Miller, provides automatic screen- ing and grinding of wastewa- ter solids in straight-through channels and wet wells. The unit reduces plastics, wood, rags and other solids to fi ne bits, enhancing plant operation and improving the reliability of downstream equipment. The Dimminutor employs a smooth, continu- ously rotating design with high torque; three bidirec- tional rotary cutters ensuring solids are reduced to a size small enough to pass through a sizing screen.
