Yorkshire Water recently marked
one year of construction on its new
£72 million sludge treatment facility
in Leeds.
The facility at Knostrop, which is
likely to take until 2019 to complete,
will be able to process 131 tonnes of
dry sludge a day, which will enable
it to recycle 94 per cent of the city's
sewage sludge.
The tallest structure in Leeds – a
123m-high wind turbine – was built at
the Knostrop site in 2014 and provides
around 10 per cent of its energy needs.
