Technology has moved our industry forward in leaps and bounds in recent years. How- ever, days being out in wind and rain sampling rivers and ground- water cannot be lost forever; veri- fication and seeing the environ- ment are fundamental aspects. As experts and advisors, it should be part of our remit to ensure that clients understand the great benefits that businesses can gain from proper planning and preparation of good quality water sampling and methodol- ogy which lead to clear outcomes that benefit the client and ensure that money is well spent. n Dr Phil Aldous is water director at consultancy Thomson Ecology.
