The boring machine digging the
Shieldhall Tunnel in Glasgow has
reached the halfway point in its
journey.
Cutting through the earth at a
rate of 2mm a minute, the machine
has reached the midpoint of the 5km
project, 10m under Pollok Park. The
£100 million tunnel is the largest
ever built in Scotland – five times
longer than the Clyde Tunnel – and
will enable Scottish Water to improve
