Following on from contract awards including Leeds and Great Yarmouth, the BAM Nuttall Mott MacDonald (BMM) joint venture is working on two further contracts through the WEM (Water and Environment Management) framework with the Environment Agency. These entail the delivery of the Exeter Flood Alleviation Scheme and the North Asset Recovery Programme. The Exeter scheme involves the construction of flood defences on both banks of the River Exe from Cowley Bridge to Countess Weir. Barhale Response was established in May last year to promote totex solutions, offsite fabrication and BIM in the UK water and wastewater sector. Barhale Response also recently appointed Bob Hook as its managing director as defences include walls, banks, demountable weirs, gates and glass panels. The North Asset Recovery Programme involves the recovery of flood defences following the storms and floods that took place during the 2015/16 winter. The joint venture has been awarded the works in the York & North-east and Lower Aire & Upper Aire catchments. The scope includes inspecting and surveying assets, developing designs and carrying out construction to return assets to their pre-storm condition. the business enters its next phase of growth and development. The project will start next year, with comple- tion in 2019.
