Anglian Water crowned World Water Cup champions 2016 The reigning UK drilling and tapping champi- ons from Anglian Water travelled to Chicago last month to take on rivals from America and the Netherlands. The competition requires the three teams to undertake a tap using each of the countries' methods, with the times on every run, including any penalties incurred, added together to give a final run time. The team with the fastest overall time is declared the winner. The UK team of Anglian Water's national champions Jason Barratt and Lee Maddocks, together with Alan Wells and Malcolm Holmes, clocked an overall time of 10 minutes 10.26 seconds, which was enough to secure first place and crown them world champions. The Dutch team, Waternet Amsterdam, posted a final overall time of 10 minutes 29.07 seconds, while US champions SADM Monterrey could only manage a total overall time of 13 minutes 41.04 seconds. £4,313 The amount awarded by the SSE Clyde (Dumfries and Galloway) Community Fund to the Moffatt Mountain Rescue Team for the purchase of essential new equipment. The team spent a day helping the elephant keepers at Howletts Wild Animal Park near Canterbury, doing everything from clearing dung and loading straw to cutting back shrubs and painting the huge metal doors and railings. This was the sixth time staff from the company have helped at Howletts and makes up some of the 660 hours of volunteering its employees have delivered in the past three months. Staff also provide financial and practi- cal support to charities, community projects and school programmes. 19,072 The number of school pupils visited by NI Water's education team during the 2015/16 school year.
