Contact Peter Bissell on: 01342 332507 Summer time It's that time of the year when the English national football team completes its biennial embarrassment – thanks, Iceland – and the strawberries and cream industry descends on west London to watch British number one Andy Murray attempt to reinvigorate the country's love for sport. And this year we also have the Olympics to look forward to – unless you're a golfer, in which case Zika fears mean hardly any of the golfers will be turning up. With so much sporting enthusiasm in the air, inspired Brit fans and athletes alike will have a big thirst to quench and the boffins at Sun Glacier are on hand to help with a handy new bit of kit. They're trying to build "a handheld solar- powered device that produces condensation for drinking". Or put another way, water from thin air using nothing other than the power of the sun. Ideal for hot, sunny, summer temperatures. On second thoughts, we Brits may be okay. Get away from it all If the usual sporting capitula- tion, typical British summer weather, and the fallout from the EU referendum has all got too much for you, some time away from it all to relax on a beach and catch some sun could be just what you need. Top destination for many a Brit is Florida, what with its golden sands, blue sea and that all important thing for Brits abroad – no need to learn a new language. However, Disconnector has got a warning for those seek- ing refuge in the land where presidential candidate – and windfarm hater – Donald Trump resides. Florida has had to shut two beaches and issue six more health advisory notices due to "high levels of toxic and faecal matter" being found in the water… The great man (Disconnec- tor, not Trump) cannot help but think that all the bull coming from the Republican presiden- tial candidate had to end up somewhere. 2016 strikes again The year so far has hit celebs hard. Bowie, Corbett, Wogan, Ali, Prince, Caroline Aherne and Victoria Wood have all passed away, leaving the world a much more sombre place. One death that Disconnector wants to highlight is that of The Trumptonshire Trilogy creator Gordon Murray, who passed away aged 92. Among his legacy will be a figure hated by Trump and UK Tories alike – or at least he would be if they had a thought to spare beyond internal war- ring. The figure in question is Windy Miller. Miller brought the idea of wind power to life for children in the 1960s and 1970s with his creaking, old but functional windmill. Disconnector has noted the public affection for Murray's iconic character, with one Trumpton fan calling for Windy Miller to take charge at Defra. With everything that's going on in the political world, would that be such a bad thing? Retro living With the news full of Brexit scare stories, political turmoil as both the Conservatives and Labour tear themselves apart, and concerned energy experts stating security of supply and affordability will be hit as the UK stumbles towards the EU exit door, Disconnector also wants to unplug and return to the simple things in life – such as the good old family board game. However, the great man was shocked to learn that there has been a death in the Cluedo mansion – and this time the murder wasn't com- mitted with the candlestick, rope, lead piping, dagger, revolver or spanner. It seems the march of progress is what did for poor Mrs White, who has been bumped from the game to make way for the younger Dr Orchid. It's the first character change since 1949. Nothing lasts forever… apart from Brexit, of course.
