6 Northumbrian Water and its Water Rangers walked away with Community Project of Year, while Partnership Initiative of the Year went to Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for its pesticides reduction programme. South East Water's Perfecting Performance scheme earned it the People Initiative of the Year award, co-sponsored by Saint-Gobain PAM UK and TES NI. This was followed by Carbon Reduction Initiative of the Year, sponsored by Asset International, which went to Anglian Water, @One Alliance and David Ball Group for their Cemfree concrete. Customer surveys earned South East Water its second award of the night, this time for Customer Satisfaction Initiative of the Year, while Veolia picked up Most Innovative Use of an Existing Technology for its Automated Biological Desulphurisation system. Sustainable Drainage and Flood Risk Management Initiative of the Year, sponsored by the Concrete Pipeline Systems Association, came next and was awarded to Northumbrian Water Group and its SuDS for Schools & Communities scheme. The NMGroup-sponsored Most Innovative New Technology of the Year when to Waterblade, for its water and energy-saving tap device. Thames Water's Our Smarter Home Visit scheme won the Water Resource Management Initiative of the Year. The former chief inspector at the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Professor Jeni Colbourne MBE, was awarded the trophy for Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry for her e" orts to ensure that the understanding of water quality and public health is incorporated into scienti• c standards and practice across the international stage. Then it was time for the • nal award of the evening, which went to Waterblade as it was crowned outright winner of the Ofwat- sponsored Outstanding Innovation 2016. The Water Industry Achievement Awards have always supported WaterAid, and this year was no di" erent. A™ er the awards ceremony guests took to the casino tables once again to raise money for the charity.
