22 Leaders 2016 Positive growth reported at Dyer & Butler Dyer & Butler Mead House, Station road, Nursling Southampton, Hampshire, SO16 0AH tel: 023 8074 2222 www.dyerandbutler.co.uk The LeADeRS 2016 Dyer & Butler, whose clients include South West Water and Bristol Water, continues to make positive growth across the business, according to managing director Neil Edwards. He said the company has already secured more than half of its objectives for 2016 "despite a reluctance in some areas by clients to commit to spending". For several years, Dyer & Butler has provided a focused waste and clean water civil engineering service across England and Wales, including storm and foul water drainage systems through to reservoirs and pumping stations. It works with utility companies, authorities and private organisations under a wide range of contractual agreements. Its services cover flood prevention, flood alleviation projects and stormwater run-off solutions covering SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems). Recent projects include the construction of a new buried package sewage treatment located near Ditchling in East Sussex for 4Delivery. The project was required to meet an Environment Agency change of consent that catered for a planned increase in population to the surrounding area. The work included the construction of a coffer dam retaining wall to protect excavation for the treatment plant; installation of a packaged wastewater treatment plant with reinforced anti-flotation collar and submerged aerated filter. Another project has been for Black & Veatch, and involved upgrading Long Crendon Sewage Treatment Works. Dyer & Butler delivered key upgrade work to the existing sewage treatment Works at Long Crendon, which was commissioned as mitigation against the risk of failure. The project comprised construction of a new primary filter, distribution chamber, collection chamber, pipe-work and inner valves. tHe NuMBerS 11/12 12/13 13/14 % cHANge Sales £M 61.8 91.6 108.0 18 Gross profit £M 7.1 13.3 14.8 11 Operating profit £M 1.2 2.5 2.9 16 Pre-tax profit £M 1.2 2.5 3.0 17 Staff 373 415 484 17 Net assets £M 2.4 4.3 6.6 53 tHe rAtIOS 11/12 12/13 13/14 % cHANge Return on capital % 49.9 59.2 44.9 -24 Gross margin % 11.4 14.5 13.7 -6 Operating margin % 2.0 2.8 2.7 -1 Net margin % 2.0 2.8 2.7 -1 Sales/employee £K 165.7 220.8 223.2 1 Wessex AMP6 framework for Dawnus DAwNuS 7 Duffryn Court Riverside Business Park Swansea Vale Swansea SA7 0AP tel: 01792 781870 www.dawnus.co.uk Dawnus Construction has added to its water sector business having gained a place on Wessex Water's Capital Investment and Capital Maintenance AMP6 Framework.
