One of the leading tank system manufacturers in Europe, having been in existence since the 1950s, Lipp has patented over 170 tank design technologies, including its Verinox stainless steel composite material which utilises both galvanised and stainless steel in a layered construction to provide a stainless steel tank liner without the expense of full stainless steel tank walls. Lipp tank covers Lipp has also recently launched a stainless- steel diaphragm roof for covering large-scale steel and reinforced concrete storage containers. The innovative diaphragm cover system, which has been used in mainland Europe for a number of years, is corrosion-resistant, gas and vapour diff usion resistant and is not susceptible to UV radiation or damage. With high mechanical strength and resistance to ageing - enabling containers with diameters of up to 100 m diameter to be spanned – the cover can help meet legislative requirements and clean air emissions targets. ENEXIO 2H BIOdek sludge basin fi lls BIOdek IFAS fi lls, marketed by ENEXIO Water Technologies GmbH (formerly GEA 2H Water Technologies) can increase the output of an activated sludge basin by up to 35 %. The fi lls are designed for installation in new sewage treatments plants and for retrofi tting existing plants. They can be retrofi tted while plants remain in operation, to adapt activated sludge basins to more demanding requirements. Such retrofi tting involves installing cascades of the fi lls, with modular confi guration, in the treatment basins, if required, with the necessary aeration systems. www.wwtonline.co.uk | WWT | APRIL 2016 | 35 PRODUCT OF THE MONTH OTHER TOP PICKS FOR TANKS Next month: fi ltration THE DETAILS... Products BETE Hydrowhirl Storm Tank Blaster ● Automated storm tank cleaning system ● Twin head, eight nozzle design ● Can clean storm tanks up to 20 metres in diameter ● Cleaning cycle of under 10 minutes What it is: Developed by spray nozzle specialists BETE, the Hydrowhirl Storm Tank Blaster is an automated storm tank and screen cleaning system which has already been successfully deployed at multiple sites with three UK water companies. It can help meet Environment Agency targets for clean tanks and reduce odour pollution, while saving operatives having to clean tanks by hand. How it works: The Storm Tank Blaster can be confi gured to deliver high-impact cleaning in a 80º to 180º downward spray pattern. This, and the combination of its twin head, 8 nozzle design, results in powerful cleaning to storm tanks up to 20 metres in diameter with a cleaning cycle of under 10 minutes. What's new: A modifi cation now defl ects all drive water downwards into the tank to prevent any up spray and allay concerns regarding open tank cleaning and pathogen risks. There is also a new 170º down option, again an improvement for open tank cleaning as the original 180º down models were sometimes found to skim some fl uid over the top of the tank at the high point of their cycle. Sealed gear boxes are now fi tted as standard which eliminates the potential for them becoming clogged. Focus on…Tanks
