The Satsop nuclear power plant in
Aberdeen, Washington, in the US was
built at a cost of £2 billion but then
abandoned in 1983 when only 75 per
cent of it was completed because the
funds ran out.
The Washington Public Power Sup-
ply System defaulted on $2.25 billion
of municipal bonds sold to finance the
project, one of the biggest defaults of
its type in US history.
