Products Hydro International Toggleblok ● Pollution containment package ● Drop seal valve for preventing surface water pollution incidents ● Meets CIRIA 736 standards ● Zero leakage up to 0.5 bar pressure ● Retrofittable and either gulley or chamber mounted ● Fits a range of standard pipe sizes What it is: The Toggleblok, recently launched by Hydro International, is a watertight pollution containment valve which helps prevent damaging surface water pollution incidents. Designed to be retrofittable, it is a drop seal valve that protects receiving water courses by blocking the release of flood water, polluted or fire- fighting water from a site's storm drains. Once activated, the mechanically-locking design ensures the metal valve remains fully closed and sealed once activated until it is safely unlocked by an operator. What's new: The valve is marketed as a more complete containment solution than a penstock valve, which is primarily a flow control device; unlike a penstock, it is designed to be 100% leak proof. Manufactured from stainless steel, it is factory pressure tested to ensure zero leakage to up to 0.5 bar pressure. The pitch: "To be sure to avoid a pollution incident, and potential prosecution, it's advisable to fit a watertight valve, as well to ensure the correct sizing and location of the valve in the drainage system, fitted and maintained by a specialist," says David Cole, water pollution manager at Hydro. Focus on…valves Durapipe Dialock The new Durapipe Dialock Valve is a diaphragm valve with a number of innovative features designed to maximise flow rate, notably a locking handwheel which allows the valve to be adjusted and locked in over 300 positions. The most linear diaphragm valve available, the opening percentage of the Dialock is shown on a high visibility graduated optical positioning indicator, ensuring easy checking of the flow rate. Its corrosion resistant operating mechanism is made from glass- reinforced polypropylene, eliminating the use of exposed metal parts. Albion Onyx Albion (UK) Ltd has expanded its range of plastics to include Onyx premium quality valves and fittings. These products are available in both uPVC and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), which is used by many industries in systems for food and beverage production, sewerage and water treatment. ABS is extremely resistant to impact and also has good resistance to chemicals; it is non-toxic and conforms to the toxicological requirements for food usage in the UK. The Onyx range of fittings is also WRAS approved and suitable for potable water applications. Rotork solenoid valves The acquisition of M&M International Srl (M&M), a subsidiary of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, has added a complete range of solenoid valve products to the Rotork Instruments division. Established for over 30 years and based in Bergamo, Italy, M&M makes general purpose solenoid valves, air actuated piston valves, automatic drain valves, connectors, coils and customised instrumentation solutions used throughout the commercial and industrial flow control industries.
