The purpose-built built street will be an opportunity for solutions providers to showcase their streetworks innovations and solutions and will feature a wide range of suppliers demonstrating their latest products and services. This will include demonstrations of the latest no-dig technologies (see p22) as well as best practice from the supply chain to the electricity, gas and water sectors. Streetworks will also be a key theme in the Utility Week Live seminar programme, with dedicated sessions in the three main show theatres. Exhibitors The exhibitors in the UWLive 2016 Streetworks village include: N D Brown – a commercial vehicle hire and asphalt hot box specialist. ND Brown services the municipal, civil engineering, utility and highway maintenance sectors nationally with specialist rental vehicles. Visit: www.exova.com Drilling and tapping: the competition The Drilling and Tapping competition has been run- ning since 1989. It's a hands-on demonstration of how to quickly and safely complete all the fittings from water mains to tap – against the clock. Last year's UK Drilling and Tapping competi- tion winners were Jason Barrett and Lee Maddock of Anglian Water with a time of 2 minutes 16 seconds. Bournemouth Water won the ladies competition and Morrison Utility Services was Best Contractor The competition is organised by the Institute of Water and the next one takes place at Utility Week Live at Birmingham's NEC, 17-18 May 2016. Teams of two are invited to enter, one driller and one tapper. There are categories for contractors as well as water companies, and a ladies competition.
