Each year it reveals new directions in water and wastewater treatment technologies, desalting and membrane bioreactor applications. Presentations will include: planning, management and regulations; coastal and inland brackish water desalination and seawater desalination; membrane filtration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis; ultrafiltration and microfiltration; membrane bioreactors; and water reuse applications . Call for abstracts closed on 19 June 2015. An important date for those who have submitted abstracts is 2 December 2015 when PowerPoint presentations and posters are due. Desalination for the environMent The European Desalination Society's event, Desalination for the environment: clean water and energy, will be held in Rome, 22–26 May 2016, to look at advances towards providing affordable fresh water. The focal point of the conference will be why and how desalination should be integrated into national or regional water management plans, ensuring socio- economic and environmental benefits. The conference will review the most recent developments in desalination technology, its cost and extent of application, including socio-economic and environmental issues. It will bring together research scientists, decision makers, managers, design engineers and operators from water companies, industries, government departments, consulting firms, research institutes and universities.
