BUSINESS November-December 2015 | Desalination & Water Reuse | 9 | IDE supplies evaporators to groundbreaking Chinese project Bomo Environmental Engineering has purchased two evaporators from IDE Technologies as part of China's first produced water treatment plant. The facility in Karamay, Xinjian will be the first in China to operate under a Build Operate Own (BOO) model. The win marks IDE's bid to raise its profile in the oil and gas sector, the company said. IDE's horizontal Mechanical Vapour Compression (MVC) evaporators will process and treat produced water to supply high quality distillate at 5,000 m 3 /day. "This project is the beginning of a long-term partnership," said IDE chief executive officer, Avshalom Felber. "Over the past three years, IDE has been increasing its activity in the oil and gas industry worldwide, providing reliable, sustainable and economical solutions. IDE brings over 50 years of experience to this market. With this project, we look forward to becoming the industry's preferred water partner and expanding our presence in this key market." The pre-fabricated evaporators will be shipped to the site after assembly and testing to limit on-site work and thereby save time as well as construction and installation costs. According to IDE the horizontal design's low footprint and operator-friendly mechanical design of IDE's evaporators provide easy access to key components, as well as improved safety for operation and maintenance personnel. The new facility will treat produced water from Shengli Oil's Xinchun oil field. It will provide high-quality boiler feed water for steam production under the 15-year BOO licence.
