ALLIANCES 2016 21 Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) is the joint venture between AECOM and Morrison Utility Services. The client is Scottish Water, and the £360M deal covers the utility's water infrastructure. CWA's contract officially started in April 2015 and the team is currently delivering a range of projects across the water network in Scotland. To date, more than 50km of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water's (DCWW) Capital Delivery Alliance (CDA) is responsible for the design and build of water and wastewater assets above and below ground in AMP6, and potentially AMP7. Partners appointed to CDA comprise Skanska Construc- tion UK, working with Hyder Consulting (UK); MMB; and Morgan Sindall, working with Arup. Galliford Try water mains have been replaced by the alliance, and design on a number of main out and water quality projects is well advanced. Onsite activity will increase significantly in the next few months. CWA will continue to deliver programme management, design and construction services to Scottish Water including new Infrastructure, working with AECOM, is a reserve capital partner. The alliance comprises five designers, contractors and Welsh Water's in-house engineering team to deliver the £180M a year asset investment programme for the next ten years. The investment is being carried out on DCWW water and wastewater networks assets, renewals, modifications, maintenance and refurbishment of water networks. CWA is one of three major alliances – ESD and aBV are the other two – appointed to deliver Scottish Water's Capital Investment Programme from 2015 to 2021 and marks a new way of working for the water company. and treatment facilities. It will include a large range of engineering and construction activities associated with the design and construction of new assets and the mainte- nance of existing assets. In many cases the condition and location of assets creates unique challenges. The alliance has enjoyed an Early Contractor Involve- ment (ECI) phase that has provided all of the project partners with a sustained period of collaboration, working together on defining how solutions can be delivered, driving best use of innovation to achieve efficiency gains and reducing cost. During the delivery phase contractors will draw on the sustainability experience of each of the partners, using BIM technology to bring whole-life costing and carbon foot-printing considerations to every project and pro- gramme.
